Job Description:
This position entails providing operational support to the janitorial department, ensuring the efficient and punctual completion of building cleaning tasks.
The primary objective is to create and maintain an appealing, hygienic, and secure environment.

The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.
Cleaning and Sanitizing:
Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors as needed.
Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, handles, and light switches.
Emptying trash bins and replacing liners.
Cleaning and restocking restroom facilities.
Maintenance and Repairs:
Reporting and addressing minor maintenance issues like leaky faucets, burnt-out light bulbs, or broken furniture.
Performing basic repairs or adjustments to fixtures and equipment.
Litter Removal:
Keeping outdoor areas free of litter and debris.
Monitoring and cleaning up spills or accidents promptly.
Restocking Supplies:
Checking and restocking restroom supplies like toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
Refilling cleaning supplies as needed.
Security and Safety:
Monitoring the facility for any security concerns or safety hazards.
Securing doors and windows as necessary.
Assisting with emergency procedures if required.
Customer Service:
Assisting visitors and tenants with inquiries or requests.
Providing a welcoming and helpful presence.
Groundskeeping:
Watering plants and maintaining outdoor landscaping (if applicable).
Removing weeds and keeping a tidy appearance.
Record-Keeping:
Maintaining logs or records of tasks completed, supplies used, and maintenance issues reported.
Special Projects:
Assisting with special cleaning or maintenance projects as assigned.
Communication:
Communicating with facility management and reporting any significant issues or concerns.
In addition to these essential duties, day porters may also be asked to perform other tasks, such as:
Water plants
Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and parking lots
Set up and take down displays
Assist with special events
Help to prepare and serve food and beverages
Qualifications:
Experience:
Basic knowledge of standard janitorial duties, cleaning techniques, products, and equipment preferred.
Must be 18 years of age.
Must be able to read and interpret documents such as but not limited to safety data sheets (SDS), operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
Bilingual (English and Spanish) is highly preferred.
Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation procedures.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
Requires regular attendance and or physical presence at the job.
Occasionally requires the ability to move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
Lift to 25 pounds unassisted.
Requires extensive use of hands (ability to reach over, bend and extend hands).
Reach above and below shoulder height, constant walking, standing in one place for long periods, bending, stooping, lifting, kneeling, etc.
Ability to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
Use cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, mop buckets, and floor buffers.
Work in varying temperature environments (internal and external building parts).
Skills
Must understand and carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
Be able to work in a team-oriented environment, maintain a positive attitude at all times, and assist the team/department to complete goals.
Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or problem approaches.
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and coworkers.
Strong interpersonal skills and customer service oriented.
