Position Summary
The Hauler & Yard Coordinator is responsible for the safe transportation, launching, hauling, movement, storage, and coordination of vessels throughout the service yard and marina operations. This position serves as a key link between customers, service personnel, and yard operations to ensure vessels are properly scheduled, transported, stored, and prepared for service, delivery, and events.
The ideal candidate possesses strong boat handling skills, towing experience, organizational ability, and a commitment to safety and customer service.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate vessel movement, transportation, and storage throughout the service yard and marina.
- Haul boats to and from boat ramps, marinas, customer locations, winter storage facilities, boat shows, demo events, and service appointments.
- Launch and retrieve vessels safely and efficiently.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload boats on trailers in accordance with company safety standards.
- Pick up and deliver customer vessels for scheduled service and repair work.
- Coordinate yard schedules to support service, sales, storage, and delivery operations.
- Maintain accurate records of vessel locations, movement schedules, and transportation activities.
- Assist with blocking, positioning, and securing vessels in the yard and storage areas.
- Conduct pre-transport inspections of vessels, trailers, towing equipment, and related hardware.
- Communicate with customers regarding transportation schedules, vessel readiness, and service coordination.
- Support service, sales, and yard personnel to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction.
- Operate company vehicles, trailers, forklifts, travel lifts, and other yard equipment as authorized and trained.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized yard environment.
- Follow all company safety procedures and applicable transportation regulations.
Requirements for the Position
- Strong boat handling and trailering skills.
- Ability to launch and retrieve vessels independently.
- Strong organizational and scheduling abilities.
- Ability to safely tow boats and trailers.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
- Experience towing trailers and transporting boats or similar equipment.
Preferred
- Experience operating forklifts, travel lifts, or yard equipment.
- Boating experience and familiarity with marina operations.
- New Jersey Boating Safety Certificate or equivalent.
- CDL license (preferred but not required).
- Marine service, marina, or boatyard experience.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to board vessels, work around docks, ramps, and water.
- Exposure to marine environments, equipment noise, fuels, lubricants, and weather conditions.
